Fauré Piano Pieces: New Edition with Commentary (Standard Piano Sheet Music)

This album features four of Fauré's most important piano pieces, as well as seven arrangements published during his lifetime (all of which were approved by Fauré). The arrangements, primarily those whose scores are now difficult to obtain, are beautiful and, above all, enjoyable to reproduce on solo piano. The editing, commentary, fingering, and pedaling were all done by Chiharu Hanaoka, a professor at Kunitachi College of Music. The scores refer to the original manuscripts, first editions, and, for the arrangements, the original scores. The editing report is included in the annotations. The commentary, which also includes information about Fauré's life and the environment surrounding him, deepens understanding of the pieces. The fingering is practical and tailored to the size of Japanese hands, and the pedaling is based on Fauré's own performances as well as those of Marguerite Long and Tissant-Valentin.
