This is the top-grade tea in the Deep Steamed Makinohara Tea Series. During the first tea harvest, the tea fields are covered with shading nets for a few days before the new buds are picked, blocking out the strong sunlight and allowing the tea buds to grow. By shading the tea fields, the chlorophyll in the tea leaves increases, giving them a darker green color. It has a unique flavor, is high in the umami component theanine, and has a mellow, rich taste with little astringency. Tea grown under cover has a unique, elegant aroma similar to that of gyokuro. "Kiwame" is grown with great care and effort, giving it a unique flavor. The tea leaves are steamed for about 3 to 4 times longer than regular sencha, and the steam heat is fully transmitted to the inside of the tea leaves, so the shape becomes powdery, but the tea flavor and green color of the tea are strong. Steaming for a long time makes the tea leaves finer, and when brewed, the tea contains a lot of the tea leaves themselves, so you can also ingest active ingredients that do not dissolve in water.
