Age: 15 and up The A-1J has not undergone any major modifications from the A-1H, and the wing folding mechanism and arresting hook remain intact. The modifications to the Air Force model are mainly to the small antennas, with an FM622 whip antenna diagonally behind the cockpit and a UHF blade antenna added behind the AN/ARN-6 radio loop compass antenna. Some aircraft are also equipped with a VHF/FM antenna commonly known as a "towel hanger" just behind the air brakes on the underside of the fuselage, and a blade antenna just before the ACL (anti-collision light) at the top of the vertical stabilizer. Furthermore, in consideration of operation on unpaved runways in Southeast Asia, the tail wheel is equipped with a larger diameter, and the wheels on the main landing gear have been changed to a one-piece type. Other features include taxiing lights on the undersides of both wing tips, and the "Yankee Extraction System" which was not equipped on the early Skyraider. Of course, all of these features are reproduced in the SWS A-1J. This aircraft is indispensable when talking about the Vietnam War, and its brave figure with its distinctive three-color SEA scheme is a must-see.
