STAGE 220P - 12" SUBWOOFER FOR STAGE 2 SERIES
The STAGE 220P active subwoofer is a larger model of the JBL Stage 2 series subwoofer pair.. An active subwoofer plays an irreplaceable role in every audio system, because due to physical limitations, smaller speakers are not able to fully transmit the lowest frequency band. Especially in stereo systems with bookshelf speakers and in home cinema applications, the important role of the subwoofer becomes apparent when watching action scenes with explosive dynamics or listening to a live music concert.
DYNAMIC POWER 500 W (250W RMS) - IDEAL FOR MEDIUM AND LARGE SURFACES
Front-facing 12-inch (305mm) a woofer with a rib-reinforced polycellulose diaphragm drives an amplifier with an output power of 250 W RMS(up to 500 W peaks). The design of the woofer is classified as "High Excursion" loudspeakers. , i.e. with large deflection. The long excursion of the diaphragm means that even the smallest nuances in the bass range will be reproduced cleanly and without distortion, so you actually hear the bass tones as the director mixed them in the studio - with an authentic power that you usually only feel in the cinema or at a live concert, and that lesser home speakers are unable to produce. Low frequencies will always be well-controlled, the solid and explosive dynamics of action scenes and concert music will take your breath away.
The solid construction of the sound box is heavily reinforced and damped with acoustically inert material to eliminate internal sound wave reflections and resonances. At the back there is a pair of optimally tuned bass reflex ports and a panel with controls for smooth adjustment of the crossover frequency and volume level.. Two switches are used to enable/disable automatic mode and the need to rotate the phase by 180° for smoother integration with the system. The low frequency LFE signal from the amplifier is fed to one RCA connector. The set also includes a protective grille made of well-sound-absorbing fabric, 4 bases with adjustable spikes and a power cable.

SUBWOOFER LOCATIONThe physiology of sound perception by the human ear shows that much more power is needed to properly represent low frequencies than for mid and high frequencies. . The ability to transmit the lowest frequencies is therefore always proportional to the size of the loudspeaker membrane and the internal volume of the enclosure.. That is why smaller speakers are not able to reproduce the lowest bass.. The solution is to add one or more active subwoofers to your audio system. (special speakers that play only the lowest bass frequencies). Here again, the role is played by acoustics and the physiology of sound perception by the human ear, which very precisely localizes the direction from which higher frequency sounds come.. High frequencies spread as a narrow beam, at mid frequencies the narrow beam becomes a cone and low bass frequencies spread spherically. In practice, this means that for low frequencies up to about 100 Hz we are unable to determine where they come from.. This makes it possible to place the subwoofer almost anywhere in the room. The JBL Stage 220P is only 35 cm wide, so it can be placed even where space is limited.
It is recommended to experiment with the position before finalizing the subwoofer setting.. One way to determine the best place for your subwoofer is to temporarily place it in your listening position and play some bass-heavy music.. While the system is playing, move around the room and listen until you find the place where the bass is most impressive. Select this location for the subwoofer.
TWO IS BETTER THAN ONE
Dual subwoofers are ideal for increasing the dynamic range of the system in the available space, while offering lower output compression and less distortion.
