Zinc selenide crystal has excellent water resistance and can be used in optical systems just like regular optical elements.
ZnSe lenses absorb almost no light with a wavelength of 10.6 μm, so they can be used for high-power lasers.
By applying an anti-reflection film coating, we have reduced the reflection loss of CO2 laser light (10.6μm) and achieved a high transmittance of 99.5%.

How to check focal length Focal length is the distance between the lens and the cutting/engraving material (see Figure 5)
Lens Selection In general, if the processing data or graphics are delicate and the main purpose is engraving, it is better to choose a lens with a short focal length such as φ38.1mm or φ50.8mm, but if the tool is mainly used for cutters such as cutting thick materials, we recommend lenses with a long focal length such as φ63.5, φ76.2, or φ101.6.
Lens Installation Znse lenses have low hardness, so when installing, please align the convex side with the laser and the concave side with the material to avoid damaging the lens.
Cleaning the Lens Use only specific materials such as optical wiping paper, cotton swabs, reagent grade alcohol, and high purity alcohol
Safety Precautions ▶Contact with strong acids will generate toxic hydrogen selenide. Do not immerse or wet the lens with solutions such as hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid.
▶When a high-power laser beam is focused on a ZnSe surface, toxic gases may be generated due to thermal decomposition. In addition, If a ZnSe lens breaks due to thermal runaway of the laser, a large amount of gas and powder will be generated. If a ZnSe lens breaks, please collect the debris without ever touching the lens with bare hands or inhaling the vapors or powder generated. Observe all safety precautions, such as wearing gloves and washing hands properly after handling.
▶Optical components using ZnSe contain ZnSe, which is designated as a poisonous substance, so when disposing of them, please entrust the disposal to a designated industrial waste disposal company.
