Product introduction
What is the appeal of Puerto Rican music? An ambitious work that traces the history of music on this island that hasn't been talked about much until now
Among Caribbean music, Puerto Rican music has many fans along with Cuban music. There is no end to the list of fascinating music sent to the world from a small island with a population of around 3.6 million people. Furthermore, community-based music such as salsa and boogaloo has popped out from Puerto Rican immigrant districts centered around New York.
However, the history of Puerto Rican music hasn't been discussed in much detail until now. Most of the musicians in the salsa era were Puerto Rican, but this may be because the music they played was often based on Cuban music. However, probably because the times have turned once, when entering the 21st century, Mark Anthony covered Rafael Hernández's classic famous song “Bolinken Lamentation,” and movements began to focus on Puerto Rican music from the old era. Furthermore, in the field of books, research books dealing head-on with Puerto Rican music have been presented as if they had broken their breath.
While referring to such books, this album tackled the history of music on this island head-on by making full use of old sound sources that had been about to be forgotten.
From the precious SP sound source of “Dancer,” which is said to be Puerto Rico's first national music, there are a number of superb boleros composed by Rafael Hernandez and Pedro Flores, who have created a unique musicality even though they are influenced by Cuban music. Also, there are plenty of precious and important sound sources, such as famous songs where you can enjoy the beautiful voices of famous singers who appeared from “Song Island Puerto Rico,” and rare sound sources of rural Hibaro music. This time, I tried to record as many famous songs representing this island as possible, with everyone listening to music in this field for the first time.
Please fully enjoy the mature appeal of Puerto Rican music, which is more profound and sophisticated than Cuban music.
Of course, it's a disco here stamp, so the booklet full of detailed explanations and rare photos is as usual. The mastering is also superb.
