The twist mechanism and refills are also made in Germany, making this writing instrument a recipient of numerous design awards. The Dreg Reful No. 2 mechanical pencil mechanism is made in Germany. Turning the twist mechanism head opens the chuck at the tip and pushes the lead forward. Returning the twist mechanism closes the chuck, holding the lead in place. The lead can be stored in the main body, and the pen also features a chamber mechanism that pushes out the next refill as soon as a refill is used up.
