Set contents: 8 cubes in a wooden box. Material: birch. Weight: 250g. Wooden box dimensions: 7.9 x 7.9 x 7cm high.
[Froebel Gift Series] Gifts is the collective name for a series of educational toys invented by kindergarten founder Friedrich Froebel (1782-1852) as children's first playthings. [What is the Third Gift?] The theme of the "Third Gift" is to learn about the changes in shape using eight "cubes." It is a collection of eight small cubic blocks, each 3cm long, housed in a wooden box. (This matches the length obtained by dividing each side of the 6cm cube in the "Second Gift (sold separately)" into two equal parts.)
[How to Play (Example)] When the cube from the "Second Gift (sold separately)" is disassembled, it becomes the eight cubes introduced in this "Third Gift." ⇒Introducing decomposition and integration. The relationship between parts and the whole. This lesson introduces that a cube can be disassembled front to back, left to right, and up to down. Removing one cube changes the overall shape. It also teaches that even if just one cube is missing, the whole will not return to its original shape. Children will realize that although the small cube is small, it is the same shape as the original cube. They will also discover that all the other small cubes are the same shape and size. Next, we will develop this into imitation play. Start with four cubes, then gradually use all eight to play with continuously changing patterns. *This is just one example of how to play. Its simplicity allows children to gain many insights about cubes.

FROEBEL'S Kindergarten Gifts
[Froebel Gift Series]
Gifts is the general term for a series of educational toys invented by Friedrich Froebel (1782-1852), the founder of kindergartens, as children's first play equipment.
[What is the third gift?]
The theme of "The Third Gift" is to learn about the changes in shape of eight "cubes."
It is a set of eight small cube blocks, each 3cm long, and comes in a wooden box. (This corresponds to the length of the 6cm cube in the "Second Gift" (sold separately) divided into two equal parts.)
[How to play (example)]
If you decompose the cube you experienced in the "Second Gift (sold separately)," you will find that it becomes the eight cubes introduced in this "Third Gift." ⇒ Introduction of decomposition and integration. The relationship between parts and the whole.
We will show you how a cube can be disassembled front to back, left to right, and top to bottom.
When one is removed, the whole shape changes. It also shows that even if just one piece is missing, the whole will not return to its original shape.
They will notice that the small cube, although smaller overall, is the same shape as the original cube, and they will also discover that all the other small cubes are the same shape and size.
Next, we will develop this into imitation play.
Start with four pieces, then use all eight to play with the pattern changing continuously.
*This is just one example of how to play. It's so simple that you can learn a lot about cubes.
