D-Link has introduced its new DGS-1520 range of Smart Multigigabit Stacking L3 Switches, consisting of 4 models of different port densities, with physical stacking, Multigigabit connectivity (Gigabit, 2.5 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit) and advanced Layer 3 management features to adapt to any network environment with great flexibility and an unbeatable cost/performance ratio. The DGS-1520 family includes 28- and 52-port Gigabit models, all with 10 Gigabit uplinks using 10GBASE-T copper or SFP+ fiber for environments where long distances are required. These 10 Gigabit uplinks provide the connectivity needed to integrate the core or be the links to servers.. They support stacking of up to 8 switches per stack, using both fiber (2 SFP+ ports) like copper (2 10G Base-T ports) or in hybrid mode (2 copper and 2 fiber), which adds flexibility and reduces the cost of cabling by using copper instead of all fiber. When stacked, it achieves a bandwidth of 80G and up to 384 gigabit ports per stack. PoE versions (Power Over Ethernet to supply data and power over the same network cable) integrate 4 Multigigabit PoE ports, ideal when connecting Wi-Fi 6 access points, since Gigabit ports are no longer able to provide all the bandwidth required by Wi-Fi 6 technology. Apart from its flexibility due to its range of copper and fiber ports and Multigigabit capacity, this series stands out for offering powerful network management functions in Layer 2 and Layer 3.. These include DHCP Server, RSPAN and selective Q-in-Q, IGMP snooping, dynamic routing, Routing Information Protocol (RIP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF).They also have the functions to create redundant network topologies in rings using Ethernet Ring Protection Switching. (ERPS) and Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP). Regarding physical redundancy, RPS power supplies can be connected (DPS-520) to ensure operation if the built-in power supply fails. Additionally, for PoE models, the PoE Budget is increased from the original 370W to 740W. The DGS-1520 Series can be managed via WebGUI interface with any web browser or, if local access is required without Internet connectivity, it is possible to use the console port and manage via the standard command line in its Full CLI capacity. It is also possible to use D-Link's D-View 7 network management software for a simplified process in deploying the network topology at the level of the switches and all connected devices.
